The Future is Hybrid

Toyota is continuously improving and researching energy efficient and environmentally friendly alternatives to power the vehicles of the future. It is Toyota’s vision to have a Hybrid alternative for every Toyota vehicle in the near-future.

The Original Hybrid

The Prius is well known as the original hybrid, as one of the first hybrids to emerge on the market it has served as a benchmark for others to come. It drives like a conventional vehicle but is amazingly fuel efficient, generating a mere 4.5 L/100 km (combined city and highway). It has a bold exterior and sleek interior, making it look like a modern conventional vehicle. The Prius features state-of-the-art technology such as Toyota Safety Sense, which consists of six advanced safety systems working together, and will adopt AWD capabilities so you can drive confidently in any condition.

The Next Generation

The Mirai uses hydrogen fuel cell technology to power its electric motor so it requires no gasoline and produces zero emissions. It features an optional “power take off” device that can power home essentials for up to a week in the event of a power outage. The Mirai is the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, which works by combining hydrogen gas with oxygen to power the electric motor. Its performance rivals any conventional gasoline vehicle. Currently the Mirai is only available in Quebec, but is expected to be made available across Canada.

Toyota Hybrid Concept Vehicles

The NS4 is powered by a Hybrid Synergy Drive plug-in system, so it is much lighter and smaller than traditional vehicles. It is more responsive, accelerates faster, and has even better fuel efficiency. The i-Road is one of the first hybrids that is not a car, making it revolutionary in the world of alternative fuel vehicles. It is an ultra-compact 2-seater vehicle meant to mimic a motorcycle, and it produces zero emissions. It features a closed cabin to passengers are not exposed to the elements and can ride helmet-free. Its “active lean” system is extremely responsive and keeps you connected to the road.
